University of Wisconsin-Superior Description:

The University of Wisconsin-Superior is a comprehensive public university whose small size gives it the feel of a liberal arts college. The school is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges and bills itself as "Wisconsin's Leading Public Liberal Arts College." The university is located in the northwestern tip of the state just across the bay from Duluth, Minnesota. Students have easy access to both the Duluth metro area and the outdoor recreation to be found around Lake Superior and the nearby forests. Students can choose from more than 30 majors; business, biology, and education are among the most popular fields of study. The university prides itself on the meaningful interactions between students and faculty, a relationship that is supported by an 18 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 21. In athletics, the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets compete in the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The university fields six men's and eight women's Division III sports. Popular sports include ice hockey, soccer, basketball, and track and field.
